Abstract

This chapter presents a collection of primary sources related to the topic of Romani activism and Gypsy organisations from the interwar Czechoslovakia. In sum thirteen orginal sources are diveded into three different categories. "Naming and Labeling of Roma" reveals various ways in various inhabitants of interwar Czechoslovakia were labeled as "Gypsies" and treated as a second class citizens. "Schooling of the Roma" brings forth several new as well as familiar sources describing establishing so called Gypsy school in Uzhhorod and also demands for schooling Roma children.

The last part entittled "Associations" documents the development in interwar Košice (Kassa, Kaschau) where were several organisations aiming at helping the Roma created mainly by Czech officials, physicians and policemen.
