Abstrakt
This article studies semantic loans,adopted asa result of language contact. Looking specifically atthe Czech verb táhnoutand the German verbziehen, it proposesa set of methods,which help to identify loanmeanings of a polysemic word and to see whether they are a consequence of language contact.
These methods include comparison with equivalents from other slavonic languages as well as examining earlier stages of the development of the language in question.
