The content interpretation of the "SOVETSKIY" in the Russian and Czech media discourses

Abstract

The article discusses the interpretations of the stabilized modus of the speech unit "sovetskiy" in the Russian and Czech media discourses. This modus is considered a product of the Soviet political discourse.

With its ideological orientation and positive evaluation, the modus of the Soviet political discourse is stabilized in the Russian adjective "sovetskiy" and its Czech equivalent. The Soviet political discourse was an external social authority for the Russian and Czech media discourses; however, they vary in their distinctions of value systems, which explains the specificity of interpretation of the speech segments stabilized by modus in the Soviet political discourse.

As a result, the models of its reinterpretation in the Russian and Czech media discourses show both similar and different elements. The similarities are determined by 1) common political and ideological past; 2) common media intentions, which is manifested in the possibility of evaluation neutralizing and reinterpretation.

The differences are mainly determined by the perception of the Soviet as an ideological model of our / their state that is realised in 1) the degree of differentiation of the evaluated object; 2) the presence / absence of the fact of using this adjective for positive evaluation.
