The aim of this study was to map the incidence and frequency of injuries in beach volleyball players in the Czech Republic since 2005. The total number of 102 still active players were asked to fill in the questionnaire.
The questionnaire was analyzed and 224 types of injuries were recognized. The players were categorized according to age and a level of game performance.
In this study the most common injuries were classified and divided according to the presenting location. The highest number of injuries were recorded in the youngest age group of 17-20 years, followed by the age group of 25-30 years.
The highest incidence of injuries were in the area of the fingers (21%), shoulder (20%) and ankle (18%). Almost half of the injuries (42%) were minor, and the treatment period did not exceed 14 days.
The collected data showed the the overall frequency of injuries is not high over the years, but the results show that the category most at risk are the players at the beginning of their performance and elite level careers, respectively 17-20 years group.
