Abstract
The paper deals with selected issues of conceptual definition of legal principles, functional functions of legal principles. In addition to emphasizing the importance of legal principles, the text also discusses the relationship between principle and values.
The classification of legal principles is also indicated. The conclusion of the paper is devoted to the issue of basic principles of criminal procedure.
The importance of the basic principles lies primarily in the fact that it defines the framework in which criminal proceedings will take place. It is therefore a matter of establishing legal and legitimate interference with the fundamental rights and free subjects of criminal proceedings by law enforcement authorities.
