"Exercise restraint" : Washington's reaction to the 1968 Czechoslovak crisis

Abstract

The article examines the role of the United States during the 1968 Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia. Johnson's restrained policy towards Czechoslovakia together with his willingness not to give up his pursuit of at least symbolic start of SALT talks.
