Abstract
The first monograph of practical paediatrics in domestic professional literature covers the whole field of child care in primary care. The intention of the editors and authors of the monograph has not been to replace the textbook of paediatrics and other disciplines, the book is focused on practical issues and reflects everyday medical practice.
It covers whole range of topics within paediatric and adolescent general medicine. The general part includes areas such as the organization of primary care in paediatrics in the Czech Republic, surgery management, assessment issues, preventive, examinations, preoperative examinations, vaccinations, care for newborns and infants, including high-risk newborns, school children and specific care for adolescents.
The work of a general paediatrician overlaps to the other fields, so the special part includes chapters devoted to individual clinical fields (cardiology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, haematology, pneumology, neurology, genetics, dermatology, rheumatology and others). The reader will get acquainted with modern diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for the most common diagnoses, including differential diagnosis.
The authors are general practitioners for children and adolescents with many years of experience in the field. The book is intended primarily for general practitioners for children and adolescents, but also for clinical paediatricians, physicians in cooperating fields, and students of medical schools can also benefit from it.
