Abstract

The lecture on this topic was presented at the conference Interdisciplinary Problems of Neonatology of the 21st Century III. held at the Motol University Hospital on April 26, 2017. Omphalocele and gastroschisis are part of several congenital developmental defects of the abdominal wall, the incidence in the last 5 years varies from 0.8-1.5 per 10,000 live births.

The low lethality of operated children and the good quality of life, mostly in our patients, is in strong conflict with the still high number of terminated pregnancies with two of these defects - secondary prevention is between 70-80% of diagnosed abdominal defects.
