Abstract
The choice of the first swimming method within the compulsory swimming lessons at primary schools is still not uniform in the Czech Republic. Often, children learn the breaststroke as the first swimming technique.
The aim of this paper is to describe the current didactics of the breast, with examples of specific exercises that can be helpful not only to instructors in swimming schools, but also to physical education teachers who lead compulsory swimming lessons in primary schools.
