Abstract

This book is the most famous and most important Wölfflin's work, written in the time when humanities began to catch up with the sciences. In this book, Wölfflin found an objective criteria for scrutinizing visual artworks by conceptualizing seeing itself as an act preceding the stylistic characterization of given artworks.
