Human Beings Living in Stories

Publication at Protestant Theological Faculty |
2021

Abstract

This text consists of two main parts. The first part explores the thesis that human beings interpret their lives in terms of stories with a meaningful content.

In this understanding, human life is construed as a story in need of being told. The second part of the chapter subsequently develops this thesis by theologically reflecting on the storied nature of human existence through the concepts of a dialectic between structure and openness, the imagination, and discipleship.
