Human Being in Time

Publication at Protestant Theological Faculty |
2021

Abstract

The human being realizes its existence in time consciously, unlike other beings. However, with this limitation it does not reconcile and longs for life after death.

The Christian answer is the belief that human death is not the end of life. The view of a historian and theologian on man allows us to include both perspectives of historicity of human being, both earthly and eschatological.

While the historian reflects the specific forms of human existence in history, depending on the available sources, the theologian in his view also includes a perspective based on Christian hope of completion of this existence. The different approaches are explained in the introductory chapter and then illustrated on selected aspects: moving to promise, relationship between body and soul, death and the kingdom of God.
