This paper consists of confrontational analysis of two Czech translations of Alexander Blok's famous poem The Twelve into Czech. Focusing on two translations, one by Bohumil Mathesius from 1925, which was considered canonical for many generations of Czech readers, and the most recent by Lubor Kasal from 2016, this study tries to ascertain which translation is more accurate and closer to Russian original; which flaws and mistakes from the viewpoint of stylistics and semantics were not avoided by both of the translators; and whether the Czech translation can render the Czech audience the same aesthetic experience as have the readers of the Russian original.
