The Porti-Miamou Project 2015: Immovable cultural heritage and soil geochemistry

Publication at First Faculty of Medicine |
2020

Abstract

Although the main aim of the Project in the 2015 season was to record the preserved remains and carry out an intensive surface survey on the site of Porti, i.e. on the Papouri hillock and its immediate vicinity (Βασιλάκης, Alusik & Κρητικοπούλου 2020. Χαραμής 2020), the matters of the preservation of the remains of masonry, and of the extent of illegal excavations and agricultural activity have also been investigated. Proposals for solutions were put forward.

Furthermore, we conducted a large-scale survey of the topsoil geochemistry, investigating differences in the elemental composition of the soil surface across the entire survey area of 800 x 800 m. All these aspects are presented in this paper.
