Abstract

The presented publication "The Story of School Bullying: A Textbook for Teachers" consists of ten main parts. The prologue is a reflection on the didactic significance of storytelling, not only in lessons for younger students, but also in the teaching of university students.

The introduction is devoted to basic information about school bullying, namely its definition, causes, manifestations and the patterns of its development. The prologue is followed by five main chapters, which correspond with the five stages of school bullying.

These chapters have a uniform structure: they all begin with a story (or part of a story that describes the relevant stage of bullying), followed by a commentary, containing basic theoretical knowledge about bullying. Furthermore, the most common mistakes and errors teachers make when investigating and dealing with bullying are pointed out.

Afterwards, readers are presented with ideas to think about, which encourage them to work actively with the topic. At the end of each chapter, one well-known socio-psychological experiment, related to the issue of violence is mentioned.

Each of these five chapters is concluded with a brief summary. The book also contains a terminological and explanatory glossary of psychological, sociological, educational and other terms from the field of the theory of bullying and aggression.

The epilogue presents a more general reflection on the phenomenon of evil and reminds readers of the need to dig deeper into this topic. The last part of the book, in addition to the bibliography and index, is an overview of annotations of selected books on bullying that have been published in the Czech Republic since 1989.

The textbook is intended primarily for current and future teachers and educators but can also be useful for parents and others interested in violence prevention in children's collectives.
