The article deals with the issue of free legal aid. The author analyses the right to legal aid, the appointment of a representative by the court, the appointment of a lawyer by the Czech Bar Association, including statistical data, and the impact of the covid-19 pandemic on free legal aid.
Finally, the author concludes with the results of the analysis of the topic, arguing that in a democratic state governed by the rule of law, the right to free legal aid, as part of the right of access to justice, cannot be dispensed with.
