Eastland steamer crash. A black day in the history of Czech Chicago

Abstract

The article deals with a shipwreck that occurred on July 24, 1915 in Chicago, USA. 844 people died on the steamer Eastland, of which at least 220 were of Czech origin. Within the Czech community in Chicago, this event is described as the "Czech Titanic".
