The authors describe a case of a 47-year-old woman suffering from unilateral patchy alopecia with excoriations for three years. Both clinical and histopathological picture were compatible with the diagnosis of trichotillomania.
The clinical presentation, diagnostic possibilities including trichoscopy and the current state of knowledge of this psychodermatosis are presented in the overview. Clinicopathological correlation and multidisciplinary cooperation is a prerequisite for the correct diagnosis and treatment.
