Abstract

Diseases associated with gluten consumption have received considerable attention around the world in recent years. Gluten is the cause of two well-defined clinical units, such as celiac disease and wheat allergies.

However, only recently have patients been identified who are glutensensitive but have neither celiac disease nor wheat allergy. The disease has been termed wheat intolerance or non-celiac gluten sensitivity.
