Arthroscopy of the shoulder joint is nowadays a standard orthopaedic miniinvasive surgical procedure. It has become more common in the past few years and now represents about 20-30% of all arthroscopic surgeries in most clinical facilities.
It developed from a diagnostic method for depicting intraarticular disorders to a routine surgical technique and has become beneficial for the treatment of shoulder joint lesions, incl. the most complicated reconstructions. To adequately perform all steps it is necessary to become familiar with the basic surgical techniques while respecting the anatomical integrity of the operated region.
