Publication at Faculty of Education |
2021

Abstract

Autism Spectrum Disorder is often manifested by impaired communicative and social skills, as well as the presence of stereotypical patterns of behavior, limited interests, and repetitive activities. These impairments, especially those in regards to communication, may negatively impact the overall quality of life of an individual and those around them.

One method to address these skill impairments is that of a verbal behavior focused applied behavior analytic approach. In the following article, partial results of a research study focused on the development of verbal behavior in a participant with autism spectrum disorder are presented in the form of a case study.

Following the introduction of the intervention, the collected data indicates an increase in skills related to verbal behavior as well as other skills related to it.
