In the editorial the Editor-in-chief draws attention to the existing structural linequalities and assymetries in research which have shaped and continue to mark the work of non-western humanities scholars, specifically researchers in the post-communist countries. She points out that the entire strong generation of scholars who were born behind the Iron Curtain and are now mid-career still waits for adequate recognition and levelling of ground in academia.
The Editor-in-chief invites further critical voices and perspectives which would add to the Discussion and Disputes section opened by essay "Where Does the West End?" by Pavel Himl.
