Positive discrimination - oxymoron, or a legitimate term? An attempt to rehabilitate the concept

Abstract

he aim of the presented article is a critical reflection of terminology in case of one of the tools of public and social policy, social work (macro) practice or personnel management, which is the so-called positive discrimination. This term has been used recently mainly in the media world as well as everyday speech, while the academic community is increasingly deviating from it.

The purpose of the text is therefore to show, based on discursive analysis, that this term still has its legitimate place and meaning in the professional dictionary and when respecting certain connotations, it can continue to serve well in describing such preferential measures that conflict with current legislation, in the broader sense of the word, which are particularly ethically difficult to defend.
