Biblical Language in West Slavic Translations - Forms and Transformations

Abstract

The conference included twelve papers (there were 13 in the program, but one speaker was unable to attend due to health reasons). The speakers were experienced scholars (from Classical philology, Biblical studies, Czech studies, Polish studies, Sorbian studies, mathematical linguistics) from the Czech Republic (Prague, Brno, Olomouc, Ostrava), Poland (Krakow, Poznan, Wroclaw), Slovakia (Nitra, Trnava) and Germany (Leipzig).

The papers dealt with various aspects of biblical translation and the development of the Czech / Polish / Lower Sorbian / Slovak Biblical language from the Middle Ages to the present. The papers were presented in Czech (6), Polish (3), Slovak (2) and Upper Sorbian (1).
