The Image of God in Athanasius' Contra Gentes-De Incarnatione and Orationes contra Arianos

Abstract

This article examines Athanasius' conception of the image of God in his early and later writings. It considers the claim that he offered no developed link between his early understanding of the image in the Contra Gentes-De Incarnatione and his more mature theology in the later works, such as the Orationes contra Arianos.
