An action hero in Denmark? Not a Viking, but a senior

Abstract

Online lecture as a part of conference Into the black, which is for librarians from the whole Czech Republic. The lecturer is journalist Judita Matyášová, a journalist who has long been interested in the senior community and intergenerational relations.

Ten years ago, she came to Denmark for the first time and was struck by the fact that there is a completely different view of the elderly than in our country. In the Czech Republic, the prevailing image is of a passive elderly person who is dependent on the help of those around them.

In Denmark, on the other hand, the senior is presented as a super-action hero who is important to society. However, nothing is as black and white as it might seem at first sight.

Judita Matyášová moved to Denmark this year to film interviews about the lives of seniors there. Find out what they can inspire us with and what they could learn from us.
