Abstract

The poster aims to describe the project in progress which consists of developing and examining interactive multimedia materials for social skills development and social understanding of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The design based research is used for the purpose of experimental development of these materials and examination of their effectiveness.

It covers the pre-tests and post-tests conducted with children with ASD and questionnaires and interviews conducted with their parents, teachers and teaching assistants. The preliminary results suggest that the interactive multimedia materials could be a suitable tool for social skills development of ASD children attending mainstream schools.
