The aim of the article is to reflect on current knowledge in the field of science and medicine as a whole and to look for the possibility of future development of knowledge about human health. The first part, entitled The Development of the Contemporary Paradigm and Scientific Knowledge, briefly describes how the social paradigm is changing, and what characteristics has today's modern science.
Significant role plays the disintegration of science into individual scientific disciplines, including medicine, which is further divided into several sub-specializations. The second part, Current Knowledge of Human Health in the Context of the Current Paradigm, approaches the Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM), which represents a modern medical paradigm.
At the same time, the phenomenon of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) is presented. Even though many of the CAM methods conflict with the current paradigm, CAM has gained and still remains popularity.
The third part, entitled Everything has been discovered already? encourages us to consider whether our knowledge is final. Historical examples suggest that it is somewhat fickle to hold such an opinion.
The last fourth part, Is Philosophy a Possible Starting Point?, offers a look at current knowledge through another perspective that may have the potential to answer the central question of the article: Are we facing a new paradigm?
