Abstract

This is to present you a closer look on the pictures that had played a significant role during the Czech elections in 1946. In the Czech environment, these post-war elections are well known as the last democratic elections for decades.

I focus on the satiric pictures and analyze them with help of the discursive analysis in terms of Norman Fairclough theory. I aim to describe the political agenda that led to the victory of the Czechoslovakian Communist Party in the year of 1946, changing the political climate for forty years.
