How do students see chemistry? Eye-tracking results

Abstract

At the beginning of the workshop, participants will be briefly introduced to eye-tracking as a research method: principle, possibilities and use. Furthermore, the basic results with an impact on the teaching of science subjects, specifically chemistry, will be presented.

Special attention will be paid to the results in the field of finding out the solution of problems by pupils and the topic of verification of teaching texts (textbooks). In the end, the candidates will try the device with their own eyes and, together with the lecturers, outline possible research questions that will be possible to solve in the future with the use of eye-tracking.
