Abstract

In recent years, we noticed the call of top level sport for the high-task specificity of exercise diagnostics. Functional spiroergometric examination in task-specific diagnostics (paddling on a flat-water race canoe) is compared with standard and longterm use of crank ergometry of upper limbs and with the canoe ergometry paddling.

The aim of the study was to determine the correlations and differences between individual exercise protocols. From a physiological point o view the identified relationships and differences confirm the inimitability of a highly specific canoeing exercise.

For elite competitors, the exercise spiroergometric protocol while canoeing can be recommended for the condition diagnostics in the training process. Accurate knowledge of physiological values at a specific type of exercise can lead to improving of training proces and increasing performance.
