'Romskiyat Zhivot- bolen, kalen i kratuk' the impact of the internet on the marginalization of Roma people in Bulgaria
Abstract
Although in anthropological research methodology fieldwork is fundamental, anthropologists today have to recognize that digital technology has become not only a necessary tool (for example, in order to mantain a distance relationship with their informants) but also an effective part of the research object. As a matter of fact, if anthropologists investigate social discourse, it is necessary to notice that a significant part of it, takes place onlin and is represented on the media.
In this article, I will analyze, assuming anantrhopological and socio-linguistic perspective, the phenomenon of marginlaizationand stigmatization of Roma/Gypsies in Bulgaria. In order to do that, I will make use of different types of e-fieldwork (two online newspapers and Facebook platform) where it is possible to analyze comments and reactions to recently published articles abou the so-calles 'tsigani' .
