Abstract

The aim of the article is to point out the literary value of the diaries of Sylvia Plath and Alejandra Pizarnik and at the same time to present parallels of their life destinies without unnecessary mythology, which is often connected with their lives. The acute need for self-expression of both authors and topics that are intrinsically close to them are present in their diary entries as well as in their poetry, which confirms that the diaries are not just autobiographical works, but part of their poetic statements.
