The work deals with the construction of identities in the second generation of Muslims. The Czech Republic has been very weakly influenced by Islam throughout history.

The second generation of Muslims in the Czech Republic consists mainly of young Muslims, descendants of migrant parents who came to Czechoslovakia, resp. The Czech Republic in 1970s and 1990s.

Their socialization took place in the context of a Muslim family and in the context of a Czech school. While within the Czech school and peer group, they were passed on values referring to the Czech majority, education within the Muslim family offered the values of the country of origin and the values associated with Islam.

This can create a possible conflict in the area of expectations of parents and the Czech majority society. What is their identity, how are they straddled between the country where they live and the country of origin, or the country that relates them to Islam? The thesis aims to examine the life stories of young Muslims, representatives of the second generation and to observe how their identities are formed and how they negotiate them themselves through the family, cultural and broader social environment The main categories that I follow in my research are the relationship to religion, education, family background, intergenerational and partnership relationships and orientation in society.
