Abstract
The history of building, consolidating and developing of the Chinese maritime connection is thus repeated in the New Silk Road project, which was presented in 2013 by and inspired by Chinese President Xi Jinping. That is why the otherwise neglected beginning of the Chinese modern age deserves our attention even today.
