Perioperative diabetes insipidus

Abstract

Perioperative onset of diabetes insipidus (PDI) is rare. Some anesthetics may be involved in the development of PDI, reducing both the release of antidiuretic hormone and the sensitivity of its receptors in the nephron collecting ducts.

Perioperative diabetes insipidus caused by anesthetics has a limited duration.
