Gender (in)equality, as well as other types of (in)equality, are emphasized as one of the central problems in education which stresses the need to take into account gender equality in different areas and at different levels of education. The aim of this review is to map out existing research concerning gender equality in education with a focus on gender (in)equality in curricular documents and compare its representation with other types of inequality (racial / ethnic, reli- gious, socio-economic).
This study also systematically describes and categorizes areas of gender (in)equality in education.
