Abstract
This article presents an overview of legal regulation and practice related to the confiscation of works of art during the so-called " time of oppression ", ie in the period from 30th September, 1938 to 4th May, 1945 in the recent Czech Republic. Its main goal is a brief summary of selected issues so that its reader acquires a basic historical orientation in order to assess possible restitution claims under Act No. 212/2000 Coll., on the mitigation of certain property injustices caused by the Holocaust, as amended
