The paper will focus on the history of translation, and it will present the current research in Czech translations from Judeo-Spanish. The research has begun due the internationally increased interest in the topic which culminated in building the National Academy for Ladino in Israel.
Since the topic presents a blank space in the Czech history of translation, the investigation aims to be a contribution both to the history of translation from Spanish, and from Jewish languages (Hebrew and Yiddish). The paper, furthermore, seeks to present the term of "comparative history of translation".
