Analysis of the development of disability for mental illness and disability criteria

Abstract

The article is analyzing the development of the invalidity for mental illnesses and criteria for the health state assessment, the rate of the drop of the work capacity at persons with mental illnesses. The result based on data is that last 9 years the number of persons assessed for mental illnessess is dropping, although the number of persons with mental illnessess in the population is constantly increasing.

The authors assume that the reason of the decrease of the invalidity incidence can be better and more successful therapy from medical view or the assessing criteria formed more then 10 years ago from the view of the medical assessment service. The authors recommend actualization of the assessment criteria besides adding obligatory psychological examination.

In the end of the article authors think that adding the psychological examination would fulfill the court request for the completeness, strength and correctness of the assessment. At the case report is documented that psychological exam is important for the determination of invalidity, which is the key for the invalidity pension claim.
