Abstract
The subject of the article is a contribution to the development of water law in Slovakia and Hungary. The author will focus on the description of selected historical Hungarian (Slovak) water law regulations and describe the current state of research into the development of water law in Slovakia.
The development of water law in Hungary and Slovakia and the comparison of these legal regulations have not yet received much attention in the Czech legal literature. The works dealing with this issue were mainly devoted to the development of water law in the territory of today's Slovakia after 1885.
The development of water law before 1885 was completely neglected.
