Abstract

The article informs about the discovery of an unknown document by Dobeš and Beneš of Boskovice from 1483 for the village of Chornice in the region of Moravská Třebová. Its copy was made at the turn of the 18th and 19th century by a Moravian historian Josef Edmund Horky.

The document confirmed the right of escheat to subservients from Chornice. At the same time, the found source is also the evidence of property-right changes, that occurred in the 80th of the 15th century in the Moravská Třebová estate.

Last but not least, the newly discovered document became an impetus for the return ad fontes and revision of the interpretation of older history of Chornice, which, through the perspective of a newer regional literature, shows considerable flaws. Recently this was reflected in the annual publication, which was prepared for Chornice on the occasion of the 750th anniversary by Oldřich Koudelka.

The year of the first written mention of Chornice itself, which is not dated in 1258 but is related with the document, that is by more than 30 years younger. A new interpretation attempt, which is based on an analysis of original written sources, also aims at the 14th and 15th century.
