Hemodynamic Monitoring and Therapy in Hypovolemic Shock

Publication at Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen |
2021

Abstract

Hypovolemic shock is a pathologic state of reduced circulating volume leading to decreased venous return, cardiac filling and hence low cardiac output. The human body has several strong regulatory mechanisms to compensate this situation, but these physiological reactions are of limited capacity, and without proper fluid therapy and causal treatment lead to death because of poor tissue perfusion.

The chapter discusses pathophysiology, as well as diagnostic and treatment modalities of the hypovolemic shock.
