The maps and plans are not only parts of contemporary cartography and geography. In many cases, they are also beautiful works of art that please the eyes and the soul.
Authors of the book present to the readers a selection of various types of artistically, cartographically and thematically interesting maps and plans of Bohemian, Moravian and Silesian towns published across centuries. Selected cartographic works are accompanied by a commentary, that discusses general characteristics of towns, as their transformations since Middle Ages, and presents functions of towns from various perspectives: as administrative, economic, educational, cultural and tourist centres.
