Abstract
This Special Issue of the journal Mathematics reports on the key issues and trends in Didactics of Mathematics in regions all around the world. The authors of each article are insiders in the research in Didactics of Mathematics in their regions, their cultures and school systems.
Their insider's perspective allows them to present not only the current trends in the research but also the historical roots and traditions underlying the current educational systems. Collecting contributions from different parts of the world offers a unique opportunity not only to learn more about the situation in various regions but also to interrogate the established practice, existing theories and envisaged perspectives.
