Abstract

The paper presents Pleistocene periglacial permafrost-related landforms - sorted polygons, as an important geoindicator of the environment and shows their irreplaceable importance for understanding the evolution of the landscape of the Central European mid-mountains in the Quaternary. Their origin is described, then their distribution is discussed, and their example is used to describe the evolution of the relief of the Hrubý Jeseník since the Late Glacial.

The importance of the article on these permafrost-related forms is that it provides valuable information for landscape management in protected areas, including threats to these unique landforms.
