Muses and Emotions in didactics of Aesthetical Subject

Abstract

This text studies a critique of the 19th century Academy of Fine Arts by Neo-Traditionalist artists and it analyzes the records of their program standpoints. It elaborates a vocabulary which offers a way of reflection of artistic phenomena from the text of Hesiod's Theogony - it explains occupations of the nine Muses.

It argues that presence or absence of the musical principles - and their substitution by a reflection - in works of art was a matter of concern to Neo-Traditionalists in their critique of the Academic works of art. It shows that this critique was also relevant for the modernistic theory of Visual Arts Education in the Czech Republic.
