This case study describes a collaborative art education project accomplished in Japan and the Czech Republic. It focusses on the enculturation processes experienced by participants and probes collaborative teaching methodologies.

It explores how discoveries in visual arts can contribute to cultural understanding and mutual enrichment of cultures and how one art education project can reconcile two culturally different pedagogical approaches. This experiential qualitative study used mixed methods to research how individuals communicate and reconcile with the unknowable "Other" in a specific place and cultural space through the creation of works of art.

The study evidenced that travelling objects caused artistic responses to the Other and the concentration of two divergent pedagogical approaches. The constant communication between participants in spatial and relational practices of art and art education led to cultural inclusion even in the reconciliation of conflicts.
