Abstract

This article is focused on a lesser known figure of Enlightenment, Johann Gottfried von Herder, and is divided into three parts. In the first part, I follow Herder's theses about the sense of hearing and the art of talking.

In this part, we find out what the core of Herder's philosophy is. The second part os dedicated to Philoctetes, drama of Sophocles.

Through analogy of its story I will demonstrate what character has the relation of two people talking to each other in Herder's way of thinking. Last part is then focused to Bildung as the result of Herder's work.
