Introduction of the GEM project and its science camp

Abstract

The paper first introduces the GEM project (Empower Girls to Embrace their Digital and Entrepreneurial Potential), which aims to stimulate girls' interest in STEM, ie science, technology, engineering and mathematics.) and the field of information and communication technologies (ICT) and inspire them to choose professions and businesses in these areas. The following is information about the two-day science camp, which took place at the Department of Chemistry and Chemistry Education, Faculty of Education, Charles University at the end of the summer holidays (August 30 - August 31, 2021).

It was attended by girls aged 12-16 who are interested in science and technology. Within the camp, they completed a diverse program every day from 9:00 to 17:00, which focused on practical laboratory activities, discussions with women scientists and lectures.

At the end of the article, an invitation to the second run of this science camp was presented.
